| Link Exchange | Sounds hard? I spent maybe four years thinking it was hopeless. I use to think you had to know some operating system type launguage like DOS, which makes it a little bit of a long learning process, so I lost interest. But later on and with bitter determination, looking round, I found some small snipets of the HTML language, so I got the general jist of it. I always though there must be some windows type program to do it all for you and now I've found out there are! many programs. Whats it all about? There are two ways to make a web page. You can use actual HTML coding, which requires you to learn the HTML coding language or you can use a windows based program. By "windows based program" I mean, like windows, you just click around choises, move things from here to there and use menus, so you need to no virtualy no coding at all. But in many cases, such as the Google Ads you see on my front page, you have to copy and paste HTML coding from a web page into your web pages HTML coding so you will need to know where to paste. What program? One program we mostly all have on our computer is FrontPage or FrontPage Express. There are others like Dreamweaver (a program that was sugsested for me but I haven't tried it yet). FrontPage Express seams to be limited. Im prosuming that its an older program before Microsoft built on it and included a capability to upload the hole website to your webspage eg: my web space is at www.exactpages.com you can get a free website with them, as can you with many other companies, usualy with the same turm "they get to adverties on your Site. So I prefer (only because im use to it) FrontPage. Tables Its always best when to create tables to put things in to. The advice I was given is to make your table width 750 pixels. Then if you are going to have stuff on the left, right or woth sides like I have you will have to split the table by going to split cells and then right click on each side going to cell properties and make the cell the apropriate sizes making all three cell sizes added together equal 750 pixels For example, my two sides are 125 pixels and the middle is 500 altogether equaling 750 pixels. I have found from my own experience that it is best to specify EVERY cell width. |
